a flashback

It seems like so long ago, but I had a flashback to Egan's infant days just a few nights ago. Specifically when he did this.
Sloane did the same thing herself.  See?

since we were all dressed up anyway...

I thought it was the perfect chance to get a few pictures of the four of us.  My cousin got married last weekend, and we were able to make it for her big day!  (Congrats Heather and Jay!)  Egan wasn't so thrilled with the idea, but I'm happy with what we got anyway.

Egan took my nose...IMG 3751

And gave it away.  Typical game with that boy, and he takes it VERY seriously.IMG 3756

Sloane pretty much slept through the entire event while Egan got to play an iPhone during the service and then left before he could cause too much damage at the reception.  Just enough time to say hi to everyone and be in a few pictures, but not wear our his welcome. HA!

The arrival

Sloane is two weeks old today and is doing great!  I have quite a bit of catch up to do, but for today, here are the pictures from Sloane's arrival!

Here she is at just a few minutes old with mommy and daddy.

Some snuggle time with daddy. I know I'm biased, but I think she is the most beautiful baby ever… the most handsome being her brother.

Egan's first meeting of Sloane.  He didn't know quite what to think about her at first.  He whispered a lot and kept saying "Awwwww…"  It was sweet.  I think his favorite part was the lantern Sloane got for him.

His second favorite part of the visit was my automated bed.  He repeatedly pushed the up and down buttons.  It was a fun and wild ride!IMG 3480Sloane slept through the whole thing.  I'm guessing that will become a trend in this house since she lives with a wild big brother.

Eventually, Egan let the buttons on the bed go and gave little sister some kisses.

The following day Egan knew more what to expect and came bounding into the room ready to hold "HIS BABY!" Can you see the difference in his face?

Our second night in the hospital, we were treated with a steak and lobster dinner!  It was a mini-date night for us and so fun!

We were ready to get home by the time our stay was over.   We got Sloane all dressed up in her cute clothes and headed home!  Here we are waiting for Blake to pull the car up.

And once we finally got home.
IMG 3566
Egan was thrilled we were all home… especially "his baby".
IMG 3581IMG 3584
He wanted to hold her first thing. For anyone that knows Egan, it is odd for him to sit this still and be this gentle.  I was quite surprised he did so well!

So, we are doing great and everyone is adjusting well… even Bo and Maggie have taken to the new addition in stride.  She's sleeping fantastically! (Unfortunately, her brother didn't do that so well for a long time after he was born, so we are loving it.)  We've been getting out of the house a lot, and even all went to my cousin's wedding last weekend.  Our hearts are full and we are in love!

Meet Sloane Anna Sawyer.  We got home yesterday and are all doing well.  Egan is especially smitten with "my baby" (as he calls her).

All her important details: 7lbs 3oz, 18in long, born at 2:35pm.  She is such a sweetheart and has stolen all our hearts.  I think Egan was expecting her to come home playing, but has taken to her sleeping and doing all the things newborns do quite well.

More to come soon, but for now, off to enjoy some family time.

you know?

I just don't know where he gets it!  This is Egan's personal camera.  Every so often, we get it out so he can take a few (hundred) pictures.  Then, somehow it gets full… (Thankfully, because I'm usually tired of getting my picture taken by then.)  It's a nice camera, but with our iPhones now, we really don't have a lot of use for it, so we passed it along to Egan.

Well, his camera has been full for close to a week now, so I just downloaded the pictures for him.  Here's a sampling of what he had on there.
Random objects by the dozens.

Lots of pictures of Maggie and Bo.

A sampling of overexposed self portraits.

And some pictures of both Blake and myself… Typically shot from they eye level of a toddler which translates to some unflattering pictures, but I thought this was actually a good one.  Blake has a head and is centered!
IMG 1957
In all honesty, I've let him do some shooting with my backup SLR camera when I'm sitting right there with him and he really does a pretty great job!  He can put his eye up to the viewfinder and press the shutter release! It is never to early to learn to use a camera in our house!

After a very non-eventful winter where I feel like we pretty much just skipped the season all together, it seems like Spring is here!  We've enjoyed lots of time spent playing at the park with friends and as much time as possible spent outdoors before it gets too hot!  The playgroup recently went to a local park with a huge, real tank.  Obviously, the kids loved it.

What isn't to love about a huge tank at the playground anyway, right?
