little helper

Like father, like son.
IMG_0486.jpg

Egan did his best to "help" Blake while he cleaned up the leaves in the yard.
IMG_0487.jpg

You know, helping like jumping in the leaves.
IMG_0502.jpg

And crawling out.
IMG_0508.jpg

IMG_0513.jpg

IMG_0517.jpg

He played with his Wild Thing. (From the book "Where the Wild Things Are")
IMG_0524.jpg

He even pitched in on the raking.
IMG_0529.jpg

When he was done, he took a little break.
IMG_0535.jpg

IMG_0540.jpg

He then ACTUALLY helped Blake fill the bags with leaves! "Helping" turned helping!

quality time

This post is brought to you by the iPhone camera and after dinner family entertainment.
Got a guess at what this is?
IMG_0443 (1).jpg

Or maybe this?
IMG_0445 (1).jpg

They are both Egan's request at Blake's next play dough sculpture. The first one was Elmo, and the second... big bird. Go back and look if you don't believe me.
The next creation got partially smashed before I could get a picture.
IMG_0446 (1).jpg

It WAS a walrus.
Here's my little frog. This was actually the second one because the first one... you guessed it... was smashed.
IMG_0447 (1).jpg

The second frog was eventually smashed as well.
IMG_0448 (1).jpg

Mickey also made an appearance.
IMG_0450.jpg

As did Minney. Let's just be honest, she is really just mickey with an added bow.
IMG_0452.jpg

I made a stegosaurus that got rave reviews.
IMG_0455 (1).jpg

Blake made a triceratops.
IMG_0458.jpg

After that, Egan wanted a new nose.
IMG_0461 (1).jpg

There were also lots of other awesome animals including Blake's incredible hippo.
We might have had more fun than Egan. (maybe.)

when daddy is away, we will play!

Daddy spent a few days at the beginning of the week out of town for work, and while he was away, Egan and I found plenty to entertain ourselves.
We went to our favorite place to eat/play (Chick-fil-a) with friends, got a bunch of fun books and movies at the library, went to the grocery store, and...
My little budding artist colored on his art stand. He calls this one... "Circle."
IMG_0411.jpg

Literally. He LOVES to draw circles.
IMG_0414.jpg

IMG_0415.jpg

IMG_0416.jpg

IMG_0418.jpg

After he finished his Circle drawing, we took a stab at finger painting.
IMG_0419.jpg

It didn't take Egan long to get the hang of the finger painting. Here he is showing off his yellow.
IMG_0421.jpg

He painted while he donned his Great-Great-grandmother's apron. I thought it was precious.
IMG_0424.jpg

IMG_0428.jpg

IMG_0429.jpg

IMG_0430.jpg

IMG_0434.jpg

Not sure what he was saying here, but I'm pretty sure I caught him mid-sentance. All done!
IMG_0438.jpg

After we cleaned up from the painting, we took on the chalk board where he requested that I draw "E"s, circles, stars, suns, spiders, triangles and...
IMG_0446.jpg

...Bugs so he could splat them!
IMG_0444.jpg

When mommy told Egan she was all done drawing bugs, but that he could draw some and still splat them...
IMG_0459.jpg

... the tears flowed.
IMG_0464.jpg

Well, until he found a speck of blue paint left on his arm. Then it was over.
IMG_0467.jpg

Once we grew tired of "art time", we moved our personal party outside to slide and play with the dogs. Bo wasn't interested in the least, but Maggie and Max (my parent's dog who was visiting while they were in China) had a ball.
IMG_0469.jpg

We also had fun playing in the sand. Egan especially enjoyed playing with his turtle sand toy in his turtle sand box. In fact, I think he just realized it was a turtle.
IMG_0471.jpg

It was so nice to spend the afternoon outside in the nice weather (in January!!!) We couldn't have asked for more.
IMG_0473.jpg

IMG_0475.jpg

Mommy and Egan time was fun, but we were super happy when daddy made it home!

a silver(ish) spoon

We've been working on a new skill.
IMG_0398.jpg

This new skill comes with quite the mess attached.
IMG_0402.jpg

Egan is working on his spoon skills. We still have a lot of work to do, but things are coming along.
IMG_0403.jpg

And we love applesauce!

Just one reason...

... I love this age.
Egan is a blast. A blast in that he is so much fun to have around and a blast because he has so much energy.
Today it snowed here. Snow is something Egan is just learning. Last winter he was too little to really realize what the white stuff was, but today he was all about it. We were playing in his room earlier today and I opened the window so he could watch the snow.
Self-proclaimed "Super Baby" ran to get his trusty stool and climbed up in the chair.
IMG_0322.jpg

Yes, as soon as I put the cape on him, he said Super Baby! I love that he is ok being a baby. He also snuggles into my chest and says "sweet baby." I like that too.
So, here's super baby watching the snow.
IMG_0327.jpg

IMG_0339.jpg

Also, don't worry. He didn't fall out of the chair. I was close by.
IMG_0348.jpg

IMG_0350.jpg

IMG_0358.jpg

I seriously can't believe how big he's getting. Who is this kid?!?
IMG_0361.jpg

IMG_0362.jpg

I just couldn't resist. This face looked so much like a real super hero face.
IMG_0370.jpg

Oh, and the snow? It wasn't much. Here's a picture I took from Egan's window. Pretty sad really, but to a little boy it was AWESOME! I love seeing things through his eyes.
