At exactly 12:46 pm today you turned one year old. Every single time I write one of these letters to you I just can't believe how time has flown by, and today I write your one year letter. Let me just say, time has flown by. I think you have changed a lot this month.
The biggest development is that you are now walking! Well, maybe I should say that you are taking some steps here and there. You are so proud of yourself as you walk. It is so fun to watch you learn new things. You can walk!
You also gave up the paci this week... with some encouragement from dad and me. The first night you weren't such a fan, but since then you have been doing pretty good. I think you actually cry less at bedtime now that you don't have a paci. It could just be me though.
You are only taking one nap most days. I can't say that is my first choice, but I don't think I have a lot of say in the matter. I can't make you sleep. We are working hard to make that one nap a good one though. I'm rolling with it!
Our house is not very quiet these days. Between you and the dogs, there is always something going on. You LOVE to babble. Babble, babble, babble. Constantly. Not much of it is understandable, but you are a talking boy! You know your name, and also who mom, dad, Bo, and Maggie are. You love playing with the dogs. One of your favorite things to do is to throw toys for the dogs.
You still eat like a champ... a champ who eats a lot! Today, for your birthday, you got to eat Chick-fil-a, and you ate an entire kid's meal and loved it. You have learned how to spit food out. Most of the time you do it when you are tired of a food. Other times you like to suck the cheese off the pasta and then spit out the pasta. Sorry Egan, but I don't encourage this.
You are now drinking cow's milk and have even learned how to drink from a straw. You haven't wanted to give up the bottle yet though. It still seems like the straw cup is a novelty and not a necessity, but I'm sure we will get there soon.
Today for your birthday, your dad had the day off, so we went to the mall together and played in the kid area before lunch. You thought that was so fun.
Here's dad checking your height.
And finally you eating your Chick-fil-a.
Yay Chick-fil-a! We love it!
Egan, it was a year ago today that our lives changed in a great way, and I wouldn't have it any other way. You are a fun, sweet little boy that lights up our lives. You keep us laughing and guessing at what is going on in your head. Most of the time, I can't figure it out. As I type this, you are sleeping sweetly in your bed, and I can hardly wait till tomorrow when we get to play some more.
We love you baby boy,
mom and dad
