the roses

Remember way back in October when I posted this?
The roses are back, and possibly more beautiful this year than last year. This last week I have cut several dozen roses to have here in the house and give to neighbors. I LOVE the roses and the wonderful smell they have.
This has been on my dining room table for the last week.

These are in my living room.

Along with these...

... and these.

I love roses, and how cheerful they make the house.

Hopefully we will have pretty blooms for a while longer!
By the way, anyone know what kind of roses these are? I'd love to have some more!

mealtime cleanup and more

This is how we cleanup after meals around here.

Maggie cleans up all the crumbs and bits of food from Egan. It's really a win, win. Egan loves the dogs and Maggie loves food. It's a win for me too because Egan doesn't scream about the cleanup. So, in the words of Michael on the Office, "Win, win, win."
And then there is this picture. I love that sweet smile, but oh my, that is a full tummy! Aren't we classy around here? No shirt, saggy pj pants, and a full tummy. Oh, and a dog cleanup machine.

Egan just might not like that picture in a few years, but oh well.
Here's another classic Egan photo.
The bottom drawer has a lot of Egan's toys. He enjoys opening the drawer and pulling them all out. And yes, the Easter Eggs are still a favorite around here.

We went to Egan's 1 year visit to the doctor last week. He weighed in at a whopping 21 lbs 15 oz and he's 30 inches long. (I think I remember that correctly... haha.) He's a strong one, and it took all the nurse and I could do to hold him down for shots. Even she commented on it. He's a feisty one!

Mrs. Lisa's pasta recipe... sort of...

We went over to see our friends a couple of weeks ago and they had this yummy pasta. Egan tried some and loved it. So, I decided to make some for Egan. In my usual fashion, I didn't do it exactly the same, but it was inspired by what Lisa made.
This is how he liked it.

Oh my, he loved it.
Here's how I did it...
Mrs. Lisa's pasta... sort of...
- frozen tortellini
- frozen veggies (Lisa's didn't have this mixed in, but I did it for the ease)
- water
- parmesan cheese
- balsamic vinegar dressing

Add the frozen ingredients and water. Microwave until done. Drain water. Sprinkle parmesan cheese and add dressing. Toss together.

Egan ate it up.

(I added some cranberries by the time I took this picture.)

playgroup birthday party

If I haven't said it before, we love our playgroup. All our kids are really close in age and are all turning one around this time. We decided to have a big birthday party at the park last week. We always love a reason to party!
All the kids brought board books to exchange with the others, and we had lunch!
These girls and their sweet little ones are like gold to us. We get together weekly and do lots of fun stuff! Normally we snap a fun picture of all the kids. I think that time is coming to an end because they are all moving around and don't want to sit in a line. Moving babies means picture with mommies! I'm kind of glad it worked out this way. I love you, friends!

Some sticks... plus, a winner!

I've gotten so far behind in the last week of blogging that this is going to be a combo blog.

First, a winner!

Congrats to commenter #9! Joy Blocker! You win a free mini-session and prints. Please shoot me an email by Tuesday afternoon so we can set up your session (info @ sawyerphotostudio dot com).

If you didn't win, you still have a chance to book a mini-session of your own. To find out what slots are still available, email me! If you aren't available next weekend and are interested, let me know. I'm considering opening up another day of photoshoots.

Second, the sticks.

Woah, Egan loves sticks. He likes to collect them, bang them on the ground, eat them, stir dirt with them. I happen to think it is cute.

...And those little curls. sigh.

A little boy and his sticks.

the birthday bash

Last weekend was the birthday boy's big day, and boy did he have fun. We had a camping party in our back yard and invited a bunch of our friends and family over for a cookout, cupcakes, and a campfire.
Egan was the perfect little party guy. He napped up until 15 minutes before the party which was when I brought him outside to snap a few pictures before all the guests arrived.

Here are a few (or a lot) pictures of the party scene.
The entrance to Egan's campsite.

A reminder to all the guests.

The food and drink tables.

The S'Mores cupcakes. yum.

The fire pit ready for roasting marshmallows.

The big tent and a spot to blow bubbles.

It's finally party time!

Mom and Dad with the sweet birthday boy.

It's time for cupcakes! Egan was excited and couldn't wait for dad to give it to him.

Everyone was singing Happy Birthday to Egan. He had no idea what was going on. The candle got blown out in the wind, but we decided to just leave it out. It was making me nervous anyway.

Time for cake!

He ate...

and ate...

wondered what the sweet, sticky stuff was (marshmallow-like topping)

and then went in for some more.

When he slowed down a bit, I added some strawberries to the mix. He couldn't have been happier.

Mia was all a bout the cupcakes as well. She was a little neater than Egan though.

Here are the three stooges cuties. We must really have good taste in clothing. Jack, Egan, and Hank have the same outfits on. Egan has that shirt, but he was wearing Jack's borrowed camping shirt.

Then, it was time to open presents! Egan still hasn't really gotten the hang of it, so Blake and I helped him so we could get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Plus, he would rather play with paper and shiny bows than actual toys. haha.

See? Shiny, gold bow = awesome.

My brother, Tyler, and Jordan. You wouldn't believe how many pictures it took to get them to look normal. Ha. Tyler's fault.

I think Egan made a new friend in Eric.

Wow, that was a lot of pictures, and I got it all done while Egan was napping, but it is about time for him to wake up, so I better get a few things done.
Thanks everyone for all the help in pulling the party together. We couldn't have done it without you! We felt so blessed to have everyone over to celebrate our little boy. Though I'm not sure he will remember this day, we will, and will tell him all about the awesome people he has in his life. We love you!
Happy Birthday, Egan!
