pumpkins and babies

Wow, has it been a busy week, and there is still much more to come! Here is one of the events from the week.
We went to the pumpkin patch at the Dallas Arboretum with our plagroup. It was a BLAST! Check out all these cute babies.

Egan and Raylee flirted the whole time... sigh.

After we got a few (or a lot) group pictures, I put Egan random places in the pumpkin patch and along the walk through the arboretum. Here's my little monkey.

The little monkey decides hay is way better than the camera.

And even gets a taste of it. Maybe I should have dressed him as a cow or something.

And here's a picture I couldn't resist. We were all walking along a pathway and walked by this spot. What do I do? Take Egan out of his stroller and put him down on the sidewalk, of course!

We had so much fun and all the grounds are so beautiful! I think you can expect many more trips... and more pictures to come.

Today, Egan tried his hand at bananas. literally...

and while not so many bananas ended up in his mouth by his own power, he had a lot of fun playing in them.

He spread the bananas all over the place, and didn't quite figure out that they were food and not just a toy.

I fed some to him though. He wasn't quite sure what to do with the texture, but started to get the hang of it before we were done. Egan is pretty much a champion with the solid foods. He loves it and I love letting him experience new things!

What's next for Egan's discerning palette? The adventure continues.

a day in the life

Get ready for a bunch of pictures... maybe even more than I normally post. This post is simply to show what Egan is up to, and to show that even better, I posted several pictures. Hopefully they will help tell the story better than I could with words.
The paci...

Egan LOVES his paci. He has become even better at putting it in his mouth. He's even good at finding it on the tray of his exersaucer and putting it in. Did I mention his love for the paci?
Now for a scary sight...

Seriously... that is real. Here's another...

This kid is going to be crawling before we know it. Right now he is getting up on his knees and rocking forward and back.
and an action shot... just for good measure.

Egan is also still obsessed with Bo, and I'd have to say that Bo is taking it all in stride. Here's an interaction between them yesterday.

Egan is reaching for EVERYTHING these days, and is doing a great job getting whatever he wants.

Egan still would love nothing more than to get to play with my phone. Here I am tempting him with it just so I could catch it on camera.

Just after he got it, I moved the phone away. I'm such a mean mom.

And one last series. Egan loves to watch Bo. He follows him all around the room as he moves. I'm impressed how fast he can turn a circle!

So, that's a quick look at a day in my life. It's always fun!

like the old days

Thursdays are one of our favorite days of the week. Thursdays are the day we get together with our playgroup. Egan, because he is such a party animal, usually does a lot of napping. Today was no exception.

Today was different because he got to dress in his monkey costume. It was also different because we went skating... with the strollers.

Check out Lisa and this guy who is getting way too into the skating.

Egan finally decided to wake up and wasn't too sure what to think about all the lights and streamers... and bad loud music.

Check out my super cool skates! They were the least comfortable things I've ever had on my feet.

Stroller skating was actually our backup plan. We were wanting to take all the little ones to the Pumpkin Patch, but because of all the rain, that didn't really happen. Maybe next week. Egan needs another excuse to dress as a monkey anyway.
In other news, we went out to eat after skating (with 7 moms and 7 babies!) and Egan sat in a restaurant highchair for the first time and did great! I stuffed his diaper pouch behind him to help fill the seat, and he had fun playing with his toys.

So far, Egan eats sweet potatoes, squash, peas, pears, oatmeal and rice cereal. He's done a great job eating everything that I put in front of him... till today. Egan DOES NOT LIKE GREEN BEANS.

Blake and I got a good kick out of it though, so I'll call it a success.

I did manage to get him to eat some green beans by mixing them in with his sweet potatoes. I'll try them alone again in a few days... and again maybe a few days later. Next up? apples. I made them today and our house smelled like yummy fall apples. He's one lucky kid to get to eat those, but green beans? not so much.

Egan LOVES it outside. This we've known for a while, but we haven't really put him down in the grass much yet until this weekend. It was such a nice day outside we thought we'd take advantage of it. I think Egan stayed out there for about an hour. We also practiced sitting, but I didn't get any pictures of that because well, I needed to keep a hand close to catch him should he decide to make a dive for the ground.

He refused to smile... sigh, but I still think he's the cutest thing ever. Funny thing is, when I don't have the camera out this kid can't smile and laugh enough. Camera comes out... pouty face.

And here he is practicing crawling. Can you believe he's pulling his knees up underneath him and rocking forward and back? Egan will be on the move before we know it!

The weather has been so beautiful the last few days and it looks like it will continue for a while, so there will be many more days spent in the grass. can't wait.
