You are now 5 months old! Every month as I type those first few words it gets harder and harder. These first months have flown by and I am at the point that I really can't remember life before you. Strange? Yes. I think so. You have learned and changed so much in the last few weeks that I am surprised everyday with the new stuff you do!
You still love to watch Bo. I'm not sure what you think he is, and he really doesn't like to stay within reach of you. I don't think that will be changing any time soon.
You are still rolling from your stomach to your back, but now you are doing it with your legs instead of your arms. You've also started doing that in your sleep which means you wake up. That is the not so great part. Speaking of sleep, you are a champion sleeper! We shoot for a bed time of 8pm right now, and when I say we shoot for that, it is your dad and I trying to keep you up that late. It seems like if you go to bed before that, you like to get up WAY to early. On a typical night, you sleep about 12 hrs straight... Again, I say IMPRESSED! You've always been a good sleeper though. I think you were giving us 6 hr stretches at about 8 weeks or so. Last month you were learning how to go to sleep on your own, but now you've got it down. In fact, you don't like to be rocked to sleep anymore. Most of the time as soon as you get fussy, we go put you in your bed with your musical dog, silky blankie, paci, and ipod playing and you are off to dreamland in no time. I'm not sure why you insist on the musical dog as well as other music, but you seem to like the dog to go to sleep. I think it is cute. You are starting to wake up in a good mood here recently as well. Sometimes I'm not sure how long you've been awake by the time I hear you over the monitor, but you sure do smile big when I come in there!
You are learning how your hands work slowly but surely. You still aren't great at putting your own paci in your mouth, but you've gotten it right a few times. We're still working on that. You are, however, great at removing it. hmmm. You are now totally into studying, shaking and playing with toys. You also still love your exersaucer.
You do lots of "work" in there.
You've also started giving me a little more freedom to lay you down on a blanket to play for a few minutes while I eat lunch, clean the kitchen, or something else.
Smiles are happening ALL the time now days and I still can't get enough. The last few weeks you have become much more relaxed and happy which is a lot of fun for us. You are easier to soothe, and most of the time only cry when you are tired or hungry. Here are some of your super sweet smiles.
Today we were at the doctor for some shots and you weighed in at a hefty 16 pounds, 9 ounces. You are such a big boy! You took the shots like a big boy as well, and only cried for a few seconds.
Another new thing? Raspberries. Raspberries, and more raspberries. See?
I'm not sure why you've started doing this, but you like to do it and get spit everywhere. It's cute, but makes a huge mess.
All in all, it has been a fun filled, busy month, but I wouldn't change it for anything. You light up our lives each and every day.
We love you,
mom and dad
